How do you make your own poles?

 

The pole must be totally smooth. You can use any type of conifer, such as spruce, fir, larch or cedar.

You need to debark and sand the pole so that it becomes perfectly smooth. If it is not completely smooth, it could damage the canvas. What's more, if it rains, water must be able to run off the pole. If the pole has rough edges or knots, the water will hit these obstacles and drip all over your teepee.

 

You can treat your poles with linseed oil and turpentine to ensure they last a long time.
